Thanks to Bob and Ginny Lilly, below is an article abouit the closing of the Whitby WV Elementary School. This article is very interesting as its very difficult to determine just how old the school was at Whitby? Yes, there were more than one schools at Whitby, however, the structure in this article was directly across from the church. There are some pics here at this site which do show the school as early as 1938, however, after reading the article below, do we know if this school was around in 1895?? The artcile is date 1970 and it states a 75 year old building is closing. Your comments are welcomed.
